This is clearly a copycat design, and at least the word billions is not mentioned anywhere. If Doggecoin could get such crazy public interest, then I see no reason CAT can't. However, my limited hashing power needs some degree of focus, and I will be sticking with Cinnamon Coin, and the DollarPound coin. I prefer to think about what coins are going to be able to survive the inevitable implosion when fad developers start cashing out. Remember NINJA mortgages, No Income No Job and No Assets, well most of the new coins are backed with the same degree of perceivable worth. When the hype evaporates, who is going to stand behind their coins and continue development?

@ColdMonkey I agree with you again.

I would suggest people to stick to the coins they believe in instead of going the easy way. this will lead to nowhere.

I am not an expert but this seems to me like a perfect copy of Bitcoin :-) so if, I think people should have respect enough to not to simple copy a coin. I mean, just try to improve the the coin and people might find something which brings new development.

It's all true. Note, however, that this coin is based on scrypt not sha256. Therefore, is resistant to such "inventions" as ASIC. Principles of mining are more fair. According to me, CAT will repeat the success of bitcoin. Anyway, the kittens are fun and entertaining ;-)

The coin seems to be a scrypted re-take on Bitcoin, with a few tentative changes, and rushed out in an attempt to cash in on Doggecoin and the like. Most of the recent rush of coins just seem to be people staking out a claim to a coin name. I have been looking at the earlier coins that came out as altcoins but which did not get a wide take up amongst miners for one reason or another, usually I suspect because people were still trying to mine Bitcoin, Litecoin and  similar. The quality of the launch of those early alternatives in terms of idea, programming quality, preparation for launch, and developer commitment was significantly better than now. Then, however, they had to contend with a very hostile reception on Bitcointalk.org whose members were for the most part extremely hostile to novelty undermining the long term prospects of altcurrencies.

One such is DollarPound, and I am looking for others of a similar ilk. Good design, sensible economics, and a developer who has persevered and kept the coin alive despite the failure of miners to take it up. If you know of any then send me a message. I suspect there are quite a few hidden nuggets worth promoting more widely.

Whether it's a re-take or not... it's a clone that may end up gaining some sort of value -- all of these alts are market interest & driven by their marketing efforts.  Just like Fedoracoin wants to be used as an online tipping mechanism -- Catcoin may be another Doge -- but who knows?

If you'd like to get some of in the meantime, come & scratch some blocks with us  ;)

Are you kidding me ? Zero Premine ?

I was from the start when this coin gona alive, first the dev not even posted the pool or the client as he said on the time he stated.

Second there were lots of fake pools and you don't even got any [CAT] coin due to fork and bug inside the code.

Third difficult is now  64.0 this is huge if you compare it to other Coins that are already out there, i've seen myself where people mined this coin into millions now they want for 1000 CAT  1BTC

don't let them fool you.

This is the biggest scam of all joke coins..... Dogecoin was fair and not like this crap.

DON'T SPEND ANY BTC ON THIS.

This coin is definitely premined.

First - the coin started 2 hours later... But where is premine? The qt wallet was posted and there was only 4 blocks found when I started it.

Second - forked chain is problem that could be with any coin and this is not bug.

Third - give a prooflink of any catillionair.

It really depends how much hash power you have... you would need to create a catcoin.conf file & run the QT wallet as a server... you may not get very far solo mining with little hashes... Here's a great pool though if you'd like to try it out:

I have made these two attempts at a Catcoin logo. I can supply it in a vector format if you wish to use them, no attribution or compensation required. Donations of CAT to 9c5gmzHaD9dBj8rsgp6DWUFKJJGLzSnZaC would be nice though. :)

Does anyone knows where can i get support from "catpool.in" cause i need a acc pw reset and cant do it on my own, does anyone knows any conatact to the pool owner?

You can always do a WHOIS lookup for the domain name and send an email to the email address on file.  I didn't see any contact information on the pool website.
