We are pleased to present you Bytecoin a brand new cryptocurrency based on Bitcoin.A full website, forum, pool and exchange (BTE/BTC/LR) are coming, keep posted!Download links:- Windows: http://www.bytecoin.in/client/bytecoin-0.8.1-win32.7z- Linux x64: http://www.bytecoin.in/client/bytecoind-0.8.1-linux64.zip- Source: https://github.com/bryan-mills/bytecoinIntroduction:I wrote this tutorial to help teach newbies how to start mining Bytecoins. In this tutorial I will explain how to mine in a public pool which is really easy. I will also explain how to set up a solo mining operation incase you have a lot of hashing power and want to earn all of your rewards. I will start by explaining the difference between solo mining and mining in a public pool.Public pool:In a public pool your mining power is combined with all the other users in the pool. This will cause the pool to generate Bytecoins at a faster rate. Once the pool generates Bytecoins it splits the Bytecoins accordingly and applies what you earned to your balance. The way this works is users get paid depending on their hash rate and shares found.Solo pool:Mining solo means you are not mining in a public pool with other users but instead you are mining by yourself. If you do not have a lot of hashing power then mining alone can take a extremely long time. The benefit to mining alone is that when you generate Bytecoins you receive all the Bytecoins and do not have to only earn a share of the generated Bytecoins.Prerequisites:Download the latest Cgminer from this download directory: ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/ (Direct Link)If solo mining download the lastest Bytecoin client here: http://bdrf.info/bytecoin/ (Direct Link)How to mine in a public pool:Register an account with a public Bytecoin pool like pool.bytecoin.in and then create a worker.Make sure to note the URL and port number that the pool requires the miner to be aimed at. Usually found on the help page. Now skip down to the "Set up the mining software" section. How to solo mine:Open up the Bytecoin client you downloaded earlier and let it sync up to date. Then close the client completely.Open the App Data directory:C:Documents and SettingsYourUserApplication dataBytecoin (XP)C:UsersYourUserAppdataRoamingBytecoin (Vista and 7)Create a .txt file and open it in notepad. Then copy and paste the following:
server=1rpcuser=YourSuperCrazyUsernamerpcpassword=YourSuperCrazyPasswordrpctimeout=30rpcallowip=*rpcport=9999In notepad go to "File<Save As..." and save the file as "bytecoin.conf" in the App Data directory. No close the folder and launch Bytecoin again. When you go to solo mine, aim any machines that you run the mining software on to the IP of the machine running the Bytecoin client.Only 1 central machine needs the Bytecoin client. Any additional machines added to increase mining power can just use the minig software and aim to the main machine. This is a solo pool. You can use no-ip.info so that you aim at a URL address instead of the IP. If you mine from outside you local network you would need port forwarding or IP Pass-through on.Set up the mining software:Extract the copy of cgminer you downloaded into a folder. Ex: C:cgminerIn that folder should be the miner files. Ex: C:cgminercgminer.exeCreate a .txt file and open it up in notepad. In the .txt file copy and paste the following
cgminer -o http://poolurl.com:8333 -u RPCorWorkerUsername -p RPCorWorkerPasswordReplace the URL address, port number, and worker login details as needed for you mining needs. Now in notepad go to "File<Save As..." and save the file as a .bat file instead of .txtThe .bat file should be in the same folder as cgminer. Ex: C:cgminerstart.batIf you need to edit you can right click the back and click "Edit".As long as the pool details are correct then you can just double click the .bat to start mining. You can also create a shortcut to the .bat to run it quicker in the future. Can right click "Edit" on the shortcut also.
